Facebook Video Downloader

Save public Facebook videos and Reels as MP4 files. Works with facebook.com and fb.watch links.

Works with public Facebook videos and Reels. Links from other platforms are detected too.

How to download Facebook videos

  1. Copy the video's link. Under the video, tap Share and choose Copy link. On a computer, you can also open the video on its own page and copy the address bar.
  2. Paste it here and press Download. We check that the video is public, fetch the best version Facebook offers and prepare an MP4.
  3. Save the file. Press the button on the result card. On a phone the video goes to your Downloads folder; on a computer, wherever your browser saves files.

Facebook links that work

  • facebook.com/…/videos/… – a video posted by a page or profile
  • facebook.com/reel/… – a Facebook Reel
  • fb.watch/… – the short link Facebook creates when you share a video

Links in the form facebook.com/watch/?v=… work too. A link to a whole page, group or profile isn't enough: open the specific video first and copy its link.

Public Facebook videos only

Facebook has detailed privacy settings, and only videos shared with Public can be downloaded. That covers most videos from pages, creators and news outlets. Videos shared with friends only, posted in private groups or sent in Messenger are limited to their audience, so our server can't reach them.

A quick way to check: look at the small icon next to the post's date. A globe means the post is public. A people or lock icon means it isn't.

Sound and format

Facebook often encodes audio as HE-AAC, which some Windows players can't decode, so videos saved with other tools sometimes play without sound. We always re-encode the audio to standard AAC and, when needed, convert the video to H.264. The result is an MP4 that plays with sound in the usual players and editors. Quality is the best version available, up to 1080p.

Troubleshooting

It says the video can't be downloaded

The video is most likely not public, or it has been deleted. Open the link in a private browser window without logging in. If Facebook asks you to log in or says the content isn't available, we can't fetch it either.

The video is in a group

Videos in private groups are visible to members only. Public groups work, as long as the post itself is public.

I pasted an Instagram link

Instagram and Facebook are both owned by Meta but are separate platforms. That's fine: the box recognises Instagram links (and TikTok, X and Pinterest links) and downloads them on this page too.

The video is over an hour long

Facebook allows very long videos. Files larger than about 500 MB can't be prepared, so a long video in high quality may go over the limit.

Facebook video downloader FAQ

Can I download Facebook Reels?

Yes. Copy the Reel's link, which looks like facebook.com/reel/…, and paste it into the box above.

Do I have to log in to Facebook?

No, and we never ask for your Facebook password. Because we don't log in, only public videos are available.

Where does the video go on Android?

Chrome saves it to the Downloads folder. Most gallery apps, including Google Photos, show it in a Download folder shortly afterwards.

Why is my Facebook download silent?

Either the original video has no sound, or Facebook removed the music for copyright reasons. If you can hear it on Facebook, try the download again.

Is the Facebook video downloader free?

Yes. There are no accounts, plans or watermarks added by us. The site is funded by ads.
