Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about how Reel Download works and what to expect.
Is Reel Download free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no subscription and no download limit beyond fair use. The site is supported by advertising shown on content pages.
Which platforms are supported?
Instagram (Reels and video posts), TikTok, Facebook (videos, Reels and fb.watch links) and X/Twitter. YouTube is temporarily unavailable.
Why does it take a few seconds to prepare my video?
Our server fetches the video from the platform, checks its codecs and, if needed, converts it to H.264/AAC so it plays everywhere. Longer or higher-resolution videos take longer.
What quality do I get?
The best available quality up to 1080p, with a maximum file size of about 500 MB.
Does it remove watermarks?
We download the video file the platform serves for public playback. For TikTok this is typically the version without the moving username overlay, but we do not edit videos.
Can I download private videos?
No. Only public videos are accessible, and we never ask for your login or password.
Do you store the videos I download?
No. Files are held temporarily so you can download them, then deleted: right after download, or after about 15 minutes if you never download them.
Is it legal to download videos?
That depends on the content and where you live. Saving a video for personal offline viewing is usually treated differently from re-publishing it. You are responsible for respecting copyright and platform terms; see our Terms of Use.
The download failed. What should I do?
Check that the video is public by opening the link in a private browser window, make sure you copied the complete link, and try again. If it keeps failing, contact us with the link.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser. On iPhone, the file is saved via the browser's Downloads (Files app).
